Professional Swedish Massage

Swedish massage uses softer strokes on the bone, muscle and more delicate parts of the body, and stronger strokes where there is thicker muscle coverage. This sensitivity to pressure makes it ideal for relaxation. During a swedish massage treatment I use organic almond oil to facilitate smooth, gliding strokes called effleurage to induce deep relaxation.

Besides the calming benefits, Swedish massage is thought to be good for:

  • easing muscular strain by flushing out toxins
  • improve your health and self awareness
  • improving circulation by increasing oxygen flow in the blood
  • increase the circulation of body fluids
  • helping to keep ligaments and tendons supple
  • improve the tone of your muscle tissue
  • stimulating the nervous system
  • reducing emotional and physical stress
  • induce deep relaxation
  • release tension and stress from your back and spine
  • release of other waste products

Other movements used include kneading, friction, tapping and gentle stretches. There is the full range from light to deep pressure work, depending on the tension levels held within the muscle.
